Meet
Dr. Wiedman
Dr.
Wiedman was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley.
He graduated high school from Canoga Park High School,
and attended the University of California at Los Angeles
for four years as an undergraduate. After graduation
he went to dental school in Nashville, Tennessee for
another four years where he graduated with his Doctor
of Dental Surgery Degree (D.D.S.). Dr. Wiedman graduated
top student in his class, taking all honors.
Before
graduation, Dr. Wiedman had worked in the field
of orthodontics while attending dental school
and knew that was what he wanted to do. After graduation from UCLA Dental School, he went to the University
of the Pacific in San Francisco for another
two years and received his orthodontic degree.
He was one of three students accepted into the
two-year program there. After graduation he
moved back to the San Fernando Valley and set
up his private practice. He has been practicing
in the same location in the city of San Fernando
for over 28 years.
Dr.
Wiedman is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists,
Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, California State
Society of Orthodontists, as well as the American Dental
Society, California Dental Association, San Fernando
Valley Dental Society, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity,
and Omicron Kappa Epsilon (for outstanding academic
achievement).
Dr.
Wiedman is an avid reader, enjoying science
fiction and fantasy. He has a great love of
travel and has been on every one of the seven
continents. His adventure travel has taken him
on river rafts through Nepal and India, hang
gliding in Thailand, and riding camels and camping
through the Sahara Desert. He has gone hiking
in the Annapurnas, scuba diving in Moorea and
the South Pacific, snowmobiling in Canada, Zodiak
boat riding in the Arctic to view the polar
bears and traveling on a research vessel in
the Antarctic to view the penguins. Dr. Wiedman
has been on safari in Africa where his love
of animals keeps calling him back. He was in
Russia when the first McDonald's opened there.
He has been to the Galapagos to see the Giant
Sea Turtles and Darwin Center, as well as other
areas in South America, Europe, Asia, the United
States, Australia and New Zealand.
Dr.
Wiedman loves the field of orthodontics and especially
likes seeing the changes take place over the course
of treatment. "It's like watching a flower bloom.
Seeing the change in personality is always rewarding.
You see a child or adult who doesn't like to smile or
talk too much and when we're done, they are beaming."
Meet
Dr. Babayan
Dr. Babayan was born and raised in Southern California and graduated high school from Glendale High School. He then attended the University of California at San Diego and the University of California at Los Angeles for his undergraduate studies. After graduating, he stayed in the area to attend dental school at the University of California at Los Angeles.
After dental school, Dr. Babayan completed a general practice residency at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. While in dental school and during his general practice residency, Dr. Babayan developed a strong passion for orthodontics. He then went on to the University of Rochester/Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York as one of six students accepted into the program to receive his orthodontic degree. After graduation, he moved back home to Southern California.
Dr. Babayan is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Society, the California Dental Association, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, California Association of Orthodontics, and is board eligible in orthodontics.
Dr. Babayan enjoys traveling, hiking, weight lifting and playing baseball, basketball, and tennis. He also loves to watch professional baseball, basketball, football and tennis and college basketball and football. His favorite teams include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers and, of course, his alma mater, UCLA. Dr. Babayan looks forward to continuing the goal of building healthy bites and beautiful smiles here at Mission City Orthodontics.
