Early Treatment
Dr. Wiedman and Dr. Babayan, as well as The American Association of Orthodontists, recommend that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment. Early treatment is started to correct problems that, if left alone, will make comprehensive treatment at a later date much more difficult or will force the orthodontist to extract teeth that could have been avoided. Examples of early treatment are deep bite where the patient is biting the roof of his/her mouth and damaging the tissue, functional crossbites that cause the patient to shift his/her jaw to one side (If left alone, this becomes a permanent change), thumb and finger habits and tongue thrust habit which distort the development of the jaws, premature loss of primary (baby) teeth which will cause loss of space for the eruption of the permanent teeth and skeletal abnormalities which, if left alone until the patient is older, will require braces and surgery to treat. This is especially true of patients with an underbite that is obvious at an early age.

Adolescent Treatment
It seems like having braces is just a part of being a teenager. While it is not the case for all adolescents, certainly the vast majority may benefit from orthodontic treatment. A healthy and beautiful smile is an important part of any adolescent’s self-image and confidence, Comprehensive adolescent orthodontic treatment can provide a wonderful smile that lasts a lifetime, an investment which cannot be overestimated.
Fortunately, it is not too late during the adolescent years to change the way that the teeth and jaws come together, At times, it is difficult to determine where a teenager is in their growth and development, so we may perform additional diagnostic evaluations to determine exactly where the adolescent is on their growing curve, tailoring a treatment plan specific for that individual.
Dr. Wiedman, Dr. Babayan and their dedicated staff, work diligently every day to help improve the smiles of their patients. We welcome the opportunity to provide all of your family’s orthodontic treatment.
Adult Treatment
Braces aren’t just for kids anymore. Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy; we offer a variety of treatments that are designed for different age groups- including adults. A new smile can begin today.
Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem, improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.
Good news! The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time and may allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal braces, translucent braces or transparent aligners that can be worn at night to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.
During the initial examination, we will be able to determine the best possible treatment for your individual needs. During this initial examination, we can outline the treatment plan, time of treatment expected and approximate cost.
A large percentage of our patients are adults. And they agree that it’s never too late to improve their greatest asset-their smile.
Full treatment
Full treatment is complete braces consisting of bands, brackets, wires and possibly other orthodontic appliances. The purpose of full treatment is to align the patient's teeth into an ideal relationship, along with giving balance and aesthetics to the patient's face.
There are many aspects to treatment. An initial exam will answer all of your questions. Please call our office today to schedule your complimentary initial orthodontic evaluation.
